The Pixar movie we won't see. NEWT.

I so eagerly anticipated NEWT when I had heard the premise; "What happens when the last remaining male and female blue-footed newts on the planet are forced together by science to save the species, and they can't stand each other? Newt and Brooke embark on a perilous, unpredictable adventure and discover that finding a mate never goes as planned, even when you only have one choice. Love, it turns out, is not a science."
Sadly, the film has been canceled, but Pixar has been cool enough to post some pictures of what could have been. Check em out.

Obsession of the Week: OC Foodie Fest 2010

Sick of your standard roach coaches? The new breed of food truck is here and rollin their delicious cuisine to the Honda Center in Anaheim, CA on August 28th. 50 gourmet food trucks will gather to change your opinion of mobile food from 11a to 7p next Saturday. These trucks are insanely delicious and reasonably priced, and the food fest is a great introduction to the trucks that frequent LA and OC. Still not convinced you want food from a truck? Check out Food Network's new show "The Great Food Truck Race" which features 3 trucks from So Cal that will make appearances at the Food Fest; Crepes Bonabarte, NaNa Queen, and Nom Nom Truck. Some of my other favorites that will be there include: Dim Sum Truck, Dos Chinos, Frysmith, Lee's Philly, LudoTruck (owned by Ludo Lefebvre of Top Chef Masters), and Piaggio On Wheels.
Click the image above to get linked to the official website for the event and buy tickets. It should be a great experience if you like to get your eat on with some delicious foods. omnomnom.

I Want This: Sega Genesis GenMobile

In 1995 Sega released the Nomad, a portable gaming device that played your Sega Genesis cartridges on the go. The Nomad was/ is one of the coolest gaming devices on the planet. Its the size of like 4 PSPs, uses AA batteries like they are going out of style, and has a very sad, very 90's screen. It is revered by collectors, however, for being comfortable, having stereo audio, and it's ability to play Genesis games on the go. With all that amazingness, for some strange reason, it wasn't until last year that we got a new way to play Genesis games on a portable console. The GenMobile is an officially licensed Sega Genesis console made by AtGames. It's kinda cheapy plastic, the screen is a small 2.4 inch LCD, and the audio is mono and eh. But, the new system is light, only about 5.5 inches across, has a bright screen, amazing battery life, and has 20 games preinstalled. Of course, the most important part for me is it's ability to play cartridges. I can't wait to play my favorites again; Primal Rage, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers The Movie, Aladdin, Comix Zone, Columns, Mortal Kombat, and of course Sonic 2. It retails about $40, if you can find it, and games are cheap now-a-days. So if you miss playing Genesis, and need your fix on the go, check out the GenMobile :)

Comic-Con Obsession: Sora Avatar

Just got back from San Diego Comic-Con 2010, and while there was probably a lot to fall in love with... I fell in love all over again with this little guy. If you don't recognize him, he's a super cute chibi representation of Sora from Kingdom Hearts. Comic-Con 09 I grabbed this little dude on a phone keychain thingy, and this year they had a new set including Halloweentown Sora. But what really had me excited were little 3 inch figures of what they call Kingdom Hearts Avatars. The 3 inch figs were attached to the cash registers at Square Enix's booth, and they told me they weren't available to the public yet. I want! They were insanely cute. Here's some pix of the keychain thingys available now, and I'll keep you in the know if I hear anything about the 3 inchers. Also, there is a big Sora Avatar available now through the website for like $129. Adorable, but not what I'm stoked for. Click the image above to see that.

Obsession of the Day: American Apparel Summer 2010 Nail Lacquer Collection

6 hot new colors are out from AA to complement their Summer collection. The formulas are a not too much better this time around, but the colors are choice. There are the 4 depicted in the photo above; Malibu Green, L'esprit, Butter, and Summer Peach. There is also a cool Khaki color that I really wanna snag called California Trooper (in honor of our states beloved CHP) and a clear base/top coat (that no one is going to buy). The colors are PERFECTLY suited for the weird Wintery Summer we have been having out here on the golden coast. Check out AA's site by clicking the pic above to see all the polish offerings.

1 month until World Cup 2010!

World Cup launches June 11th 2010. So I thought I'd share with you some of my favorite items to get in the International Soccer spirit.

5. Nike USA Gear

So, Nike is in charge of USA's gear officially. If you are looking for some USA pieces to rep your hood check out Nike.com. They are also in charge of a few other countries like Portugal, England, and Australia.

4. Adidas World Cup Gear

For everything else World Cup check out Adidas.com, my personal favorite piece is the South Africa Track Jacket. SO hot. Adidas officially makes all the gear for most countries like Germany, Spain, Mexico, Argentina, and South Africa.
Check out Puma.com for Italy gear as well as a few other countries.

3. Panini Adrenalyn XL World Cup 2010 trading cards

Panini is this awesome card company from Italy that only recently showed up on the US card scene with their Adrenalyn XL NBA cards. The soccer ones are a bit harder to track down, as are the World Cup ones, but when you do you'll find a fun collectible featuring all your favorite footballers. Don't expect to find these listed on the Panini America website either, I found them through the International site. Neither site sells them directly so check out ebay or online card stores.

2. Adidas World Cup 2010 South Africa Soccer Ball The "Jabulani"

The Jabulani is the official ball of the FIFA World Cup this year and will be used in all the matches of the tournament. The word Jabulani means "to celebrate" in Zulu, the most widely spoken home language in South Africa. The ball has 11 colors on it to represent the 11 official languages of South Africa and the 11 players on a team. You can score your own right now on Adidas.com. For the final match on July 11th look for a special Gold ball that will be used called the "Jo'bulani" in honor of the final match being held in Johannesburg.

1. Panini World Cup 2010 Sticker Album

Although they've only recently made their debut here in the States, the Panini World Cup Sticker Album is the quintessential World Cup souvenir all over the world. Since 1970 Panini has produced sticker books that features team players, mascots, emblems, and more. This year the album contains an unprecedented 637 stickers, not to mention the super secret special ones you won't even realize you were supposed to get. These are a bit easier to find right now than the Adrenalyn XL cards, but I still think your best bet in finding these will be ebay or local card collectors/ online stores. I found some at the Card Pavillion in Santa Ana, CA (super nice people over there) or Check out PaniniGroup.com for more info.

Obsession of the Day: OPI Shrek Forever After Collection

A few months ago OPI launched their first movie inspired nail polish collection based on Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland". It was 4 colors and 2 of them were plain reds. This collection is much stronger and based on the upcoming "Shrek Forever After", the 4th and final Shrek film.
It basically breaks down to 3 colors; Green/Yellow, Purple, and Blue, each offered up in a bright option and a pastel option. The standout is the green called "Who the Shrek are you?" which is perfect match to Shrek's ogre green skin. Then there's the pastel yellow called "Fiercely Fiona", the bright purple "Funky Dunkey, the pastel purple "Rumple's Wiggin'", the bright Blue "Ogre the top Blue", and finally the pastel blue "What's with the Cattidude?" Overall I think this set is awesome. I picked up all the brights, and I think I'm gonna go back and snag the light blue. They all wear great and are perfect for Spring. If the pastels are more your style, but you aren't quite sure which one, you can also pick up a mini pack that has the 3 pastels and the Shrek green in 1/8 oz. mini bottles.

Obsession of the Month: Disney's California Food and Wine Festival 2010

Disney's California Food and Wine Festival just started YAY!! I can't wait to get my "Omnomnom" and my "Yummm" going on! F&W fest takes place at Disney's California Adventure Theme Park and offers up Cooking classes, Wine tasting, Vodka tasting, Beer tasting, Flights, Specialty cuisine for the festival at select dining locations, and the highlight for most; Celebrity Chef demonstrations. Click the image above to visit the site, it's got the whole schedule up there. The Celebrity demos kick off with Guy Fieri from Food Network's Diners, Drive-in's, and Dives, and continue throughout the festival. My personal favorite experience is the specialty items at restaurants. Last year I attempted to taste them all and failed. But let's just say they involved a hummus trio, lobster nachos, chicken panzarotti, a lobster roll, clam chowder, and something called "Magicale". Sooo good. Can't wait to see what the unique offerings are this year. Wish me and my tummy good luck!

Obsession of the Day: American Apparel Nail Lacquer

How frakin hot are these colors? I love American Apparel and I love nail polish. Win-win!
This is the first series of nail lacquers by AA and it is a tremendous collection. There are 18 colors total (that's a lot ;)) and they have some great names like Dynasty, Pinto, and Passport Blue. Just beware of old bottles, there was a recall right after these came out because the glass broke super easily. So if you are gonna buy some I suggest going into an actual store where they are selling them in the new, SAFE, bottles. Or if you click the image above it takes you to AA's site for a more in depth look at each color and you can order them there. As for wear, they have a kind of weird consistency. If you use high end brands like OPI, you'll find the formulas kinda runny and in need of 3 coats (it depends on the color since they are all a bit different). But these aren't drug store 99 cent stuff either.
The colors alone make this collection a must have for polish addicts.

Obsession of the Day: Discovery Channel's presentation of "Life"

I absolutely loved Discovery's presentation of BBC's "Planet Earth" last year, so of course I'm very pumped to see their presentation of BBC's "LIFE". Its another beautiful HD Nature docu-series focused more towards evolution and the existence of life. It was produced by Michael Gunton for BBC and premiered in the UK back in Oct 2009. Capitalizing on the success of "Planet Earth", Discovery is now bringing BBC's latest documentary series installment stateside and I couldn't be happier. Well, that's not completely true... I really am more excited for the "real" sequel to "Planet Earth" (which was produced by Alastair Fothergill) that will debut in 2011 called "The Frozen Planet" (also by Fothergill). But it is nice to see that BBC documentary series can be successful on this side of the pond, let's hope they keep 'em coming. "LIFE" premieres tonight at 8 on Discovery, Animal Planet, Planet Green, and TLC.

Song of the Day: Space Cowboy ft. Cinema Bizarre - I Came To Party

Obsession of the Day: Modern Amusement

Found this brand at some rando store today. A lot of really cool pieces, but overpriced for what they were. $200 sunglasses, $100 tops, American Apparel quality. Click the logo above for some of there most recent lookbook, I don't love the clothes shown, but what I saw shopping today (most likely an older collection) was really cute. The website is poor and there aren't a lot of online vendors. If you find some on sale or clearance check em out, and if you find some in SoCal, let me know, I'm always lookin for a bargain.

Song of the Day: Rihanna - Rude Boy

I think I heard this song like 20 times today, it had to be today's Song of the Day.

Obsession of the Day: Siggi's Yogurt

Siggi's is this seriously BOMB yogurt I found at the nearby Sprouts market. It's an Icelandic Skyr, which is similar to Greek yogurt but even thicker.
Whats great about Siggi's is it's fat free, SUPER high in Protein, sweetened with Agave instead of Sugar or High Fructose Corn Syrup, and the cows are grass fed and reside in New York; so they're American and they are eating what cows were meant to eat, which means what they produce is way better for ME to eat :) and I LOVE to eat :D. Also the packaging is super nifty, it breaks down and is completely recyclable. The label is cardboard that just rips off. All in all, these are my new guilty pleasure, so yummy.
Just a heads up, if you try these and they still aren't sweet enough for ya, just add some local honey on top and enjoy your nosh.

Hello, new blog.

Hey kiddies. I've decided I wasn't really happy with the way I was running my old blog, so I've chosen to start fresh with a new one. This blog is still called See.Hear.Speak, because it will still be about the things I see and hear, and what opinions I have about them. I'll try and blog daily, kind of an obsession of the day type deal. If you are looking for oldschool See.Hear.Speak content, I've simply moved it to a new url. Click the link above to connect. I hope you enjoy the new content, and I hope you leave lots of comments if you have any opinions about my opinions. Thanks for reading, and enjoy!
